This Hangout is well worth the time to watch if you want to know more about how Google Apps work

Our special guest this week is Vivekananda Baindoor Rao  , a well-informed and educated “Googler.” Along with Molly Youngblood Geiger  , these two Google Rising Stars join me this Saturday on Saturday Morning Marketing Smarties to discuss “Cloud Computing.”

Seems like a short decade ago when businesses were asking for what they referred to as, “Web 2.0” specialists. And at the turn of the century, the phrase “cloud computing” was born.

However, as in most visionary beginnings, the concepts of cloud computing have been topics of discussion for nearly half a century!
Email, and other services have been using cloud computing for a while, yet, we just know them as email, and a few services, usually subscription-based, that we don’t have to buy, but we can rent monthly – cloud services.

Also, if you are paying for suites of tools to run or enhance your online business functions (and offline…), or proprietary software for the company that employs you, you’re probably participating and/or subscribing to what they call, “SaaS,” or “software as a service.” With this, you never have to install software, but you may have to connect to restricted programs and files, and have permitted access.

One set online tools that is essential because of its management potentials and empowering functions – not to mention it’s basically FREE – is Google’s set of collaboration tools.

In short, the Grand Daddy of business suites by Microsoft is now unnecessary to own in order to conduct business. And because of its connections to Google search, Gmail, and all of its communications and organizing features, it is in my humble opinion, BETTER!

The King of business ops no longer has the market cornered for word processing, spread sheets, visual presentations, form development, and map/geo-location tools… not to mention Google Drive gives you 15 Gigs of free space in the cloud. And if you want to upgrade, it’s only $1.99 a month for an additional 100 Gigs!

Here’s the basic list of programs that are available to everyone – free...

Google Drive
Google Docs
Google Sheets
Google Slides
Google Forms
Google Maps

Alongside the cloud movement is machine learning and semantic web. Hence, the next web development era, or “Web 3.0,” is characterized by cloud services, machine learning, and semantics.* We are actually there… but, as usual, it will take some years for everyone to realize it and catch up. By then, Web 4.0 will be well on its way.
Whatever the case, if you stick with Google, you may NOT be “in the know…” but you sure will have access to it!
